The Pretty Boy Korean Hunk Kang Ji Hwan is gaining grounds

Kang Ji Hwan (1977) started his acting career in 1993. Despite his tall figure and bright face, due to his lack of luck, Kang Ji Hwan was only able to appear in several dramas, such as Save The Last Dance For Me, More Beautiful Than A Flower...

Until 2005, Kang Ji Hwan started to be recognized widely throughout the daily drama Be Strong Geum Soon (MBC). Be Strong Geum Soon gathered a B-grade casts and it didn’t attract much attentions at that time. However, thanks to its interesting plot, Be Strong Geum Soon set a record rating of 40%. The drama brought its lead male and female characters, played by Kang Ji Hwan and Han Hye Jin, to fame. They are loved not only in Korea but also in Taiwan and mainland China, where people have bought the copyrights to broadcast the drama.

After the success of Be Strong Geum Soon, Kang Ji Hwan became an A-grade actor and was invited to be the main character of several dramas after that. However, his later dramas including Fireworks, 90 Days Falling In Love, and Capital Scandal didn't success as good as expected. It’s even worse that drama 90 Days Falling In Love had the lowest rating in 2006. This event affected Kang Ji Hwan significantly and made him became quiet for a while.

In early 2008, Kang Ji Hwan came back with ancient drama Hong Gil Dong. It’s believed that this is the drama that he devoted himself the most. Although Hong Gil Dong’s ratings are better than his previous dramas, it doesn’t reach its expectation.

Yet, via Hong Gil Dong, Kang Ji Hwan has become more popular and gathered more fans in Korea, Japan, China… and even in Vietnam. Thanks to Hong Gil Dong, Kang Ji Hwan has an opportunity to win the Most Popular Actor at Baeksang Awards, which will be held on April 24.

Finally, Kang Ji Hwan’s efforts and talents are recognized by everyone.
